We are Fire Code experts, and our unique services provide building managers, owners, and condominium boards with a keen understanding of their responsibilities under the Fire Code. We design solutions to meet the specific needs of our client, their situation, and their building. The Part Time Fire Protection Engineering Technologist/ Fire Code Consultant, will support a variety of challenging project deliverables and be responsible for site audits, risk assessment, fire alarm retrofit project administration and the creation of fire code compliance solutions for our clients. This individual will leverage their experience, knowledge, and collaboration skills to develop best-practice solutions, with a keen interest in educating clients on fire safety and compliance. What Can I Expect to do in this Role? Conduct site audits and assess life safety systems for performance utilizing applicable codes and standards for code conformance Independently assess, evaluate risk and prepare professional technical reports describing deficiencies and recommendations for improved life safety Independently manage projects & services you have ownership of including scheduling, review reports, coaching and training. Conduct fire safety training for building staff and residents, as required Meet with and negotiate with respective municipal authorities on behalf of FCS clients Investigate, advise and develop tools for best-practice solutions for unique design, retrofit and compliance challenges Fill the gap between public education and enforcement though the design and implementation of code compliant solutions to fire safety challenges Review and prepare professional fire alarm retrofit contract documents, including the creation of permit drawings and specifications, in conjunction with Fire Protection Engineering Technologist Administer fire alarm retrofit projects from commencement through to completion including conducting site reviews, contractor administration, progress reporting, final commissioning, preparing closing documents and obtaining permit clearance Participate in presentations, tradeshows, knowledge-sharing, and team meetings Travel to project site is a requirement; therefore, a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract (required for company record) must be maintained for this position Explore your love of Fire Safety and your unique ability to add to the team dynamic and help FCS clients Qualifications: Preferred: Fire Protection Engineering Technology Diploma (3YR) Minimum: Fire Protection Engineering Technician Diploma (2YR) Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), an asset Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) and/or BCIN Qualified Practitioner, an asset Work Experience: AutoCAD skills Must hold, and maintain, a valid Class G or better Ontario Driver’s License in good standing Knowledge & Skills: Experience to include code analysis, alternative solution, life safety study and retrofit review Excellent customer focus and client relations skills Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Ability to manage complex projects independently (within a support team environment) Able to work within office and remotely, recording all project notes and developing reports Excellent client and AHJ relations Excellent analytical, project planning, scope of work and report development skills Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent

Requirements
Requires a diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or Technician, with a valid Ontario Driver's License and AutoCAD skills. Experience in code analysis, life safety studies, and project management is essential.
