About the Role We are looking for a Retail Floor Lead to support the day-to-day operations of our retail floor. Working closely with the Retail Supervisor and store team, you will help coordinate workflow, maintain merchandising and food safety standards, support team members, and provide customers with knowledgeable and friendly service. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organized, proactive, communicates well, and enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities Support daily retail floor operations by helping coordinate workflow, task assignments, and priorities in consultation with the supervisor. Support new-hire orientation and ongoing team development while leading by example and reinforcing company policies, service standards, and food safety practices. Maintain attractive, well-stocked displays and support receiving, product counts, FIFO stock rotation, labeling, pricing, and signage. Monitor product levels and quality, communicate shortages or concerns to management, and assist with inventory, shrink/waste, and daily sales-related records. Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service, including guidance on seafood selection, cuts, preparation, and cooking methods, and escalate complex concerns when needed. Maintain clean and organized counters, displays, work areas, and equipment while supporting sanitation, temperature monitoring, and other food safety requirements. Monitor coolers, freezers, scales, and other equipment and promptly report functionality or safety concerns to management. Maintain regular communication with the Retail Supervisor, Store Manager, and other departments and perform other duties as required to support store operations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Dependable, reliable, and proactive. WHMIS training is an asset or willingness to obtain. Previous retail, seafood, food service, or supervisory experience is an asset. Working Environment Full availability to work weekends is required. Hours may vary based on business needs and store operations. Prolonged standing and regular physical activity, including bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work in wet and cold environments. Regular handling of fresh and frozen seafood products.
