IT System Administrator/Technician Employment Type: Temporary Employee Position (minimum 3 months) Location: Fort St. John, BC (client office), with occasional travel to a site northwest of Fort St. John (~1.5-hour drive) as needed Pay Rate: $35-$55 an hour for the right candidate, paid bi-weekly About the Role Five By Five Communications is seeking an experienced IT System Administrator/Technician for a temporary employee position with one of our clients, based out of their Fort St. John office. This is a minimum 3-month temporary position with an immediate start date, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position based on performance and client needs. The role is primarily based at the Fort St. John office, with occasional travel to a client site located about northwest (roughly a 1.5-hour drive) as required. The successful candidate will be hired as a temporary employee of Five By Five Communications and placed with the client to support their day-to-day IT infrastructure and systems operations. Responsibilities Administer, monitor, and maintain the client's network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, switches, routers) Manage Windows, Active Directory, and Group Policy Perform routine system maintenance, patching, and updates Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes Document network configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions Collaborate with client IT staff and escalate issues as needed Ensure compliance with client security policies and industry best practices Requirements 5+ years of experience in network/systems administration Hands-on experience with [Windows Server / Linux / specific platforms] Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configuration Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) Familiarity with [specific tools: e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft 365, Azure/AWS] Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, CCNA, MCSA) Strong troubleshooting and communication skills This is an onsite position based in Fort St. John, BC — remote or hybrid work is not available.
