Position: HT 16 - Educational Assistant – EA 3, Specialized Education Program Location: Holy Trinity Hours/Week: 25-31 Hours per week Start Date: ASAP Closing Date: September 14th, 2026 Job Reference: HT16-09082026 The Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for a full-time Educational Assistant in High School Specialized Education Programs. Qualifications Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma Able to understand/support Social, LA, Math and Scinces Grades 7-12 including 30-1 levels Requirements Able to understand and support students academically in Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development Support and/or implement teacher directed programming Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team Implement behaviour management and educational strategies that facilitate student learning Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies Observe student behaviour with focus on achieving positive behavioural/educational outcomes and mitigate/prevent negative ones Provide high level of structure to facilitate completion of required learning outcomes Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies using a variety of devices and associated programs Successful implement the Positive Behaviour Plan(PBP), if required Manage student behaviour using strategies learned through NVCI certification (Specific requirement only) Able to work with students with Autism or complex medical needs Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered. The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references.
