In this dynamic role, you'll support community and Indigenous engagement initiatives, contribute to high-profile capital projects, and help develop programs that strengthen community partnerships and corporate reputation. In this role, you’ll support the development and delivery of FortisBC’s socio-economic impact programs, while contributing to broader initiatives that advance business priorities across the Community and Indigenous Initiatives team and the organization. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams to support strategic programs, strengthen community and Indigenous relationships, and further the Company’s commitment to its Statement of Indigenous Principles and being B.C.’s energy partner of choice.In this role, you will: Support inclusive participation of Indigenous, local, and underrepresented groups on FortisBC’s projects through local business development, workforce development, and social impact through the implementation of socio-economic impact program deliverables. Support the planning, coordination and delivery of strategic programs and cross-organizational initiatives that advance Community & Indigenous Relations objectives and broader corporate priorities. Coordinate and develop socio-economic impact (SEI), regulatory, and consultation reports in alignment with project or program deadline requirements and ensure organizational compliance with the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) program and various framework agreements with Indigenous communities. Engage with prime contractors, social impact organizations, local and Indigenous communities, and internal stakeholders to identify and develop socio-economic opportunities on FortisBC projects. Integrate socio-economic project activities into FortisBC’s long-term corporate strategy to become B.C.’s energy partner of choice and B.C.’s top choice for talent. Apply best practices from socio-economic project activities to update standardized metrics for measuring SEI programming within our operations and maintenance activities.Build best practices and collaborate with business leads across the organization to ensure effective implementation of PAIR deliverables and enhance key corporate commitments and strategic priorities. What it takes: A post-secondary degree with a specialization in business, communications or a related discipline, plus a minimum of three (3) years of community investment, stakeholder relations, Indigenous engagement or marketing experience. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines. Passion for learning, understanding and supporting local and Indigenous communities. Great analytical and professional judgment skills when developing strategies to achieve corporate objectives and continually enhance program initiatives. Proven project management skills with the ability to drive key initiatives under limited supervision. Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills to engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels and rights holders. In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
