POSITION OVERVIEW A Powerline Technician is expected to discharge the responsibility of and to practice fully his/her trades qualifications. A Powerline Technician reports to a staff supervisor or delegate. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform standby duties as assigned. * Assist in training new employees, apprentices and employees in lower classifications. * Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification. REQUIREMENTS * Holder of a Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or a Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate. * Be familiar with and experienced in electric utility transmission and distribution systems, protective and safety devices and their clearances and isolating procedures. * Holder of a valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement. The Powerline Technician is responsible for performing trade-related duties on electric utility transmission and distribution systems. They are also expected to assist in training apprentices and lower-level employees while adhering to safety and isolation procedures.

Candidates must hold a Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or a Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate. A valid Class 3 driver’s licence with an air brake endorsement is also required.
