Every delivery is a chance to represent our team well and build lasting relationships with the contractors and builders we serve. The role requires someone who can work confidently and independently on the road and can assess site conditions, solve problems on the fly, and make good judgement calls without always having someone to check in with. You’ll also be a key link between our customers and the yard team, so clear communication in both directions matters. This is an active, hands-on role that combines driving with crane operation, so a strong commitment to safety and attention to detail are a must. What You’ll Be Doing * Delivering lumber, building materials, and other products to customer job sites in a safe and timely manner * Operating a mobile crane to unload and place materials at delivery sites * Assessing job site conditions on arrival and making sound, independent decisions about safe crane placement and material handling * Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with regulations and company standards * Securing loads properly to ensure safe transport * Communicating professionally with customers on-site and representing the company with a positive, can-do attitude * Coordinating closely with the yard team before departure to confirm orders are accurate and loaded correctly * Keeping dispatch and the team informed of your progress, any site issues, or order discrepances encountered on the road * Completing delivery documentation and paperwork accurately * Reporting any vehicle maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly * Always working in compliance with WorkSafeBC Standards and provincial transportation regulations * Completing any additional duties as required by the operations team What We’re Looking For This role requires specific certifications and experience. Here’s what you’ll need to be successful: * Valid BC Class 3 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract * Mobile crane operator certification (or equivalent – please specify in your application) * Proven experience operating a mobile crane safely in a job site environment * Strong knowledge of load securement practices and transportation regulations * Confident, self-directed problem solver who is comfortable making good decisions independently when situations on the road don’t go as planned * A collaborative communicator who keeps the team informed and works well with yard staff, dispatch, and customers alike * Excellent customer-facing communication skills, as you will be the face of our company at every delivery * Detail oriented with a strong commitment to safe work practices * Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and occasional overtime * Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 70 pounds, and working in all types of weather conditions * Previous experience delivering lumber, building materials, or construction supplies is a strong asset If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
