JOB OVERVIEW We are looking for a motivated Tooling Engineering Student who can join our team and commit to an 8-month internship. Join FTAI Aviation’s Repair Team and make a direct impact in a collaborative, high-performance environment. The tooling department is responsible for creating tools and fixtures that support both production (gas turbine engine disassembly, inspection, reassembly and test), as well as piece-part repair (machining, grinding, thermal spray, coating, welding, brazing and many more). Many tools are both designed and manufactured internally in our fully equipped machine shop. Tools must be designed to meet the high precision required by aerospace applications. The tooling team is growing and is investing in new technologies such as additive manufacturing (i.e. 3D printing) and optical scanners to accelerate the design of tooling. As an intern, you will support our tooling and engineering teams in a variety of hands-on and design-related tasks, while gaining valuable industry experience. Responsibilities: * Assistingwith the development and improvement of tool designsalongside thetooling engineers * Creating andmodifying3D models using CAD(computer-aided design)software * Preparing technical drawings to support manufacturing and inspection * Post-processing and analyzing optical scansand inspection data * Supporting machinists and technicians in tool fabrication and repair * Contributing to 3D printing projects, including requirements gathering, CAD modeling, printing, and feedback integration * Organizing and collecting engineering data to support engine overhaul activities * Assistingin the development of tools that enhance engineering processes * Learning about jet engines, and the challenges related to their maintenance, repair, and testing * Developing analytical thinking and problem-solving skills through real-world projects Required skills, qualifications and experience: * Currently studying in a Bachelor of Engineering program at a recognized university in either Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering, or equivalent * Experience in mechanical design * Experience with CAD programs (especiallySolidworksandAutoCad, but also CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo and others). * Experience with drawings for manufacturing and an understanding of GD&T * Experience with 3D printing is an asset * Organized, self-motivated,strong analyticaland problem-solving skills, and the ability to work without direct supervision * Ability to troubleshoot problems and prepare technical reports * Strong interpersonal skills * Fluent in English and French Equal Opportunity Statement: FTAI Aviation is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity in the workplace.
