Do you already have some hands-on experience in landscaping or irrigation and want to develop your skills further with professional training and mentorship? Garden City Tree & Landscape Ltd. is hiring an Irrigation & Landscape Technician to join our Landscape Construction Division. This role is ideal for someone with at least one year of experience in landscaping, irrigation, or outdoor construction trades, who is eager to learn and build a long-term career in irrigation. While the focus will be on irrigation systems, you’ll also have opportunities to work on a variety of landscape construction tasks such as planting, hardscaping, and carpentry. Responsibilities: Assist with installation of irrigation systems including main lines, lateral lines, sprinklers, drip systems, and controllers. Support troubleshooting and repairs on irrigation systems under the guidance of senior technicians. Perform basic seasonal irrigation tasks such as start-ups and winterization. Take part in landscape construction activities when needed, including planting, soil preparation, sod installation, and hardscape or carpentry tasks. Operate and maintain basic tools and equipment safely (e.g., trenchers, hand tools, compactors, saws). Load, unload, and secure materials and tools for transport. Follow site safety procedures and help keep work areas clean and organized. Work closely with foremen and crew members to complete projects efficiently and to high standards. Participate in winter operations (snow removal and anti-ice applications), as required. Qualifications: At least 1 year of experience in landscaping, irrigation, or a related outdoor trade. Interest in developing irrigation knowledge and skills (training and mentorship provided). Physically fit and able to perform labor-intensive tasks such as digging, trenching, lifting, and carrying. A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to work well in a team environment. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset. Schedule: Regular: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Seasonal Hours (May to September): Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Work Location: Different Greater Victoria work sites.
