Job details
Job Description Summary You will develop engineering solutions for spare parts, retrofits, and replacement assemblies supporting both new and legacy GE motors, generators, and control panels within GE Vernova Power Conversion’s Rotating Machines Renewal Parts team in Peterborough. In this role, you will help keep critical industrial equipment operating reliably for customers around the world. You will own the technical execution path from customer requirement through final delivery, transforming complex legacy documentation into practical, engineered solutions. Working closely with commercial, project, supply chain, manufacturing, and supplier teams, you will provide technically sound, safe, compliant, and manufacturable outcomes. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, analyze legacy machine designs and documentation, troubleshoot technical issues, and deliver clear engineering guidance and recommendations to colleagues, suppliers, and customers. Success in this position requires strong technical expertise and a willingness to work within the specialized and demanding field of rotating electrical machines, generators, motors, and associated control systems. Job Description What We Are Looking For Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. One to two years of hands-on experience working with electrical or electromechanical equipment in manufacturing, assembly, repair, maintenance, field service, or a similar industrial environment. The ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, specifications, customer documentation, supplier proposals, and quality records, while proactively resolving technical gaps and discrepancies. One to two years experience developing technical documentation such as specifications, requests for quotation (RFQs), design instructions, inspection records, test procedures, assembly instructions, technical reports, or product manuals. A demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical work, ensuring accuracy, quality, sound engineering judgment, timely decision-making, and effective risk identification and mitigation. The confidence to provide clear technical guidance, influence cross-functional teams, and drive resolution of technical issues without relying on formal authority. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical findings, recommendations, assumptions, risks, and required actions to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to learn quickly, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment. Fluency in English, including the ability to understand and interpret complex technical documentation. Preferred Qualifications Two to five years of experience supporting industrial electrical or electromechanical equipment. Knowledge of rotating electrical machines, motors, generators, power systems, power electronics, electromagnetics, insulation systems, or electrical materials. Familiarity with medium- and high-voltage rotating equipment, associated components, and applicable industry standards such as IEC, NEMA, CSA, EASA, API, or ISO. Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) or engineering document management systems, such as Teamcenter, to navigate drawings, technical records, and bills of materials. Experience working with legacy or obsolete equipment documentation, drawings, and bills of materials to identify, redesign, or recreate components using modern engineering and manufacturing methods. The Mindset That Will Help You Succeed You take ownership of complex technical challenges and persist until a practical, well-supported solution is achieved. You are naturally curious and motivated to build expertise in new technologies, industry standards, legacy products, and engineering disciplines. You apply sound engineering judgment to balance customer needs, technical risk, manufacturability, cost, quality, and delivery requirements. You recognize that high-quality engineering work is fundamental to reliable customer commitments, successful project execution, and long-term business success. You are comfortable working with incomplete historical records, evolving requirements, and competing priorities, while maintaining focus on delivering practical technical solutions. Note: For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $75,900-$126,500 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
