We currently have an opening for a permanent full-time Senior Environmental Professional based in any of the following NB offices: Fredericton, Moncton or Saint John. About the Role The position provides the opportunity to primarily support the growing team in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and across Canada. You will work with a team of engineers, and environmental scientists on a variety of environmental projects in support of infrastructure and land development, renewable energy development and mine development. Some of the key responsibilities are: Planning, development and execution of environmental deliverables including Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Monitoring Reports, Permit Applications, etc. for proposed development projects in various industry sectors under provincial and/or federal processes. Planning, execution, and management of field programs/surveys relevant to the assessment of terrestrial and/or aquatic biology including avifauna, wildlife, vegetation (including rare plants), aquatics, wetlands, species at risk, etc. Involved in coordinating, preparing, and reviewing provincial and federal environmental permitting applications. Provide oversight of field and office staff including review of health and safety plans, survey methodology, QA/QC practices, etc. Preparation and review of proposals, work plans and budgets as well as contributing or leading the management of projects. Collaboration with other GEMTEC staff and offices on environmental permitting and related environmental projects of various sizes. Involved in coordinating and completing environmental and socioeconomic studies, Aboriginal, stakeholder, and public consultation programs. Qualifications Completion of an undergraduate degree in related field such as Biology, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science. Minimum of 8 years of experience in a related environmental professional role. A demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced, multidisciplinary environment. Knowledge and understanding of applicable municipal, provincial, and federal policies, guidelines and legislation for environmental assessments. Excellent project management skills with the ability to develop scope of works, execution strategies, and experience with overseeing management of environmental related work. A bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field and at least eight years of relevant environmental experience are required. Candidates should have knowledge of environmental assessment policies and legislation, strong project management and communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a valid driver's license; wetland delineation certification is an asset.
