We're looking for a Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Fort St. John, BC. In this role, you'll lead field operations, work alongside skilled professionals, and contribute to projects that leave a lasting impact. You have strong technical field skills, confidence operating survey equipment, and an appreciation for working outdoors while delivering results safely and efficiently. What you will do: * Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants. * Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology. * Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra. * Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences. * Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants. * Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology. * Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program. * Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned. What you will bring: * Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying, geomatics or civil engineering, or equivalent experience. * Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic). * Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset. * 3-5 years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role completing construction and legal surveys is required * Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment. * Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes. * The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment. * An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget. * A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and * Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace Job Conditions: * Out-of-town work (possible shift work). * Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis. * Night shift may be required. * Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
