Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of commercial vehicle systems (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and computer diagnostics). Welding experience is considered an asset. Communication & Teamwork: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage shift priorities and support team members. Experience: 5+ years of heavy truck/equipment maintenance experience preferred. Responsibilities Shift Leadership & Coordination: Oversees afternoon shift workflow, prioritizes daily repair orders, assigns tasks to technicians/apprentices, and ensures shift goals and turnarounds are met smoothly. Maintenance & Repair Operations: Performs complex diagnostics, routine maintenance, and emergency repairs on heavy vehicles and fleet equipment. System Diagnostics & Electronics: Diagnoses and repairs electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems using advanced fleet software and electronic tools. Apprentice Mentorship & Safety Coaching: Serves as a technical guide and mentor to apprentices, promoting safe work habits, proper tool usage, and quality workmanship. Safety & Compliance: Enforces all shop safety protocols and conducts regular work area inspections to ensure full compliance with corporate and OHSA standards. Documentation & Work Orders: Uses fleet maintenance software to update work orders, track repair times, manage parts consumption, and provide handover notes for the incoming shift. Emergency Support & Estimates: Evaluates repair times/costs for major jobs and coordinates or conducts service calls for off-site emergency breakdowns as required. Requires a valid 310T Truck and Coach License and at least 5 years of heavy truck maintenance experience. Prior supervisory experience in a heavy-duty shop and ownership of personal tools are strongly preferred.
