We are an employee-owned company with over 12,000 diverse and skilled individuals, across more than 200 offices spanning five continents. The Power of Commitment is our brand promise. It’s what makes us different. We are bound to our stated vision and determination to address humanity’s most urgent needs: to make water, energy and urbanisation sustainable for generations to come. Our Canada West Civil Infrastructure Group is looking for a Senior Geotechnical, Dams, and Tailings Engineer to join our growing Canadian Operations. This position can be based in Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary and will play a key part in growing and delivering our dams and mining practice across Western Canada. Our Geotechnical, Dams and Tailings team engages in projects of varying sizes and scope, working with municipal and mining clients in British Columbia, Alberta, and across Canada. Our team provides integrated professional services throughout the full project lifecycle from pre-feasibility studies to detailed design, construction and through to closure and rehabilitation. Areas of practice for our Geotechnical, Dams, and Tailings team include municipal and water resource dams, tailings storage facilities, mine water and water-retaining dams, sediment and containment ponds, waste rock facilities, heap leach facilities, dry-stack and filtered tailings facilities, and other geotechnical and mine waste infrastructure. As part of GHD’s global dams and mining community, the role will provide opportunities to work on projects across Western Canada and internationally, including collaboration with our established dams teams in Australia, Chile and across the broader GHD network. See what the power of commitment can do for you! Apply today! Who are we looking for? A recognized leader in dams and mining, bringing the experience and judgement to provide technical direction, lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor developing professionals, and guide clients through complex challenges across the full dam lifecycle. An energetic and high performing Self-Starter, ready to engage with and support an established and growing team. A Technical Director with demonstrated multi-disciplinary engineering experience. A Mentor to assist in the development of junior and intermediate team members. A Trusted Advisor able to participate in client relationship management and business development, help build GHD’s profile in dams and mining. What you bring to the team: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological engineering. Professional Engineer registered or eligible for registration in British Columbia and Alberta. Experience in dam engineering, typically 20+ years, with demonstrated technical and project leadership. Strong knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering principals, dam design, and dam safety. Strong understanding of applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines, the Canadian Dam Association, EGBC and APEGA, and relevant legislated Acts. Demonstrated project management and commercial skills, including the preparation and management of scopes, budgets, schedules, work programs, proposals and technical deliverables.
