JOB SUMMARY Our growing Victoria team is looking for an agile, collaborative, creative Mechanical Designer to join and compliment our team. The Mechanical Designer will be eager to demonstrate their technical design expertise and will thrive in an environment which challenges and inspires. You will want to find balance between learning and developing new skills and being given responsibility to drive design projects in partnership with your peers. You will assist Senior Designers & Project Leads in client relationship development, attending progress meetings and building relationships with project stakeholders. RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS As a Mechanical Designer, your tasks will vary but will typically consist of the following: * Revit and/or AutoCAD drafting and design operations. * Provide technical assistance to the Senior Designers/Project Managers/Team Leaders as follows: * Maintain Design files. * Set up heating and cooling load calculation file (i.e. Carrier HAP) - inputs to be checked by senior staff. * HVAC, Fire Protection and Plumbing layout and drafting with minimal supervision. * Ensure Introba design checklist is being followed. * Ensure Introba AutoCAD and/or Revit Standards are being followed. * Maintain AutoCAD and/or Revit files. * Prepare preliminary motor list with assistance provided by senior staff. * Prepare equipment selections using Introba selection procedures with assistance provided by senior staff. * Review and process shop drawings with senior staff. * Assist in training junior staff and reviewing their work. * Write various reports as directed by senior staff and attend site surveys with senior staff. To be successful in this role, it is expected that you are able to demonstrate a combination of the following qualifications & skills: * Minimum 3 years AutoCAD experience (this could be a combination of academic & professional experience), coupled with 2 years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for different types of buildings. * Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings with minimal supervision provided by senior staff. * Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing building and sprinkler codes (i.e. NFPA, BCBC, BC Plumbing Code, etc.) with minimal supervision provided by senior staff. * Revit MEP experience is preferred. * Knowledge of energy modeling and calculations is an asset. * EIT classification is an asset. * University degree or College diploma in Mechanical Engineering specialization is an asset. Requirements
Candidates must have at least 3 years of AutoCAD experience and 2 years of design experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Proficiency in reading architectural and structural drawings and knowledge of relevant building codes is required.
