Job summary
Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to work closely with the group CFO and become a key member of the finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the multi faceted organization, ensuring accuracy in accounting practices and compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and a solid understanding of financial reporting and budgeting processes. Responsibilities Preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Analyze and report cost variances Conduct account analysis and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly. Support and perform transactional functions, as needed, for each aspect of accounting to ensure all financial results are accurate, complete, and timely Provides leadership and management of all accounting departments, developing processes as necessary to ensure proper daily functioning of the department Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations Collaborate with the CFO to develop budgets and forecasts, providing insights for financial planning Utilize accounting software such as Sage Intact for efficient record-keeping and reporting Maintain organized documentation for all financial transactions and audits for month-end and year-end working papers Examining and analyzing accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will also work closely with senior management on complex issues Any other tasks as needed (i.e. entering A/P, A/R invoices, document control etc.) Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Chartered Professional Accountant designation OR in an advanced level nearing completion of designation 5-7 years proven experience in accounting roles, preferably with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, and account analysis. Proficient experience with MS Office, Sage Intact (300/Timberline) is highly desirable. Experience in construction accounting is beneficial Supervisory experience is an asset System implementation skills an asset Strong analytical, technology, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate financial reporting Understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting Excellent organizational skills to manage numerous priorities at once and able to multi-task effectively Ability to manage and work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Strong communication skills to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
