To learn more about Municipal Affairs, follow the link to: https://www.alberta.ca/municipal-affairs.aspx.Role Responsibilities As a Councillor Accountability and Recall Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting Alberta's municipal accountability and recall programs by: Supporting the development and implementation of Alberta's Councillor Accountability Framework, including policies, procedures, operational processes, and stakeholder engagement activities. Coordinating the administration of complaints, investigations, appeals, sanctions, and related program activities while ensuring compliance with legislative and operational requirements. Maintain a roster of investigators and appeals commissioners to investigate complaints under the Councillor Accountability Framework and any resulting appeals. Managing confidential records, case files, tracking systems, and reporting processes while monitoring legislated timelines and identifying issues requiring escalation. Administering municipal recall processes, including intake, review, tracking, and coordination of recall-related submissions and documentation. Providing guidance and responding to inquiries from municipalities, elected officials, investigators, stakeholders, and the public regarding accountability and recall processes. Conducting research, analysis, and environmental scans to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to improve program effectiveness. Preparing briefing notes, correspondence, reports, summaries, and materials for management and senior leadership. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; OR 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. Assets and Requirements: Experience coordinating sensitive, confidential, or high-profile files involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. Experience preparing briefing notes, correspondence, reports, recommendations, and other materials for management or executive leadership. Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policy, procedures, and operational guidelines to support effective program delivery and issue resolution. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and legislated timelines. Experience supporting stakeholder engagement, project management, policy implementation, operational improvement, or program development initiatives. Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act, municipal governance structures, councillor accountability processes, administrative fairness principles, and municipal recall legislation. Training or experience related to investigations, administrative law, quasi-judicial processes, conflict resolution, regulatory administration, compliance, or municipal governance. Experience working in a public-sector, governance, regulatory, or legislative environment. Experience administering complaint, investigation, appeal, or case-management processes.
