The branch supports immigration policy development, program design for Alberta's immigration programs, and inter-governmental relations on immigration. Role Responsibilities Are you a strategic leader with a passion for public policy, stakeholder engagement, and shaping Alberta's future? The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly motivated Manager, Immigration Policy and Programs Strategic Initiatives to lead a team of policy professionals supporting Alberta's immigration priorities and economic growth objectives.Reporting to the Director, Strategic Immigration Policy and Program Design, this position provides leadership in the development of immigration policies, programs, legislation, and strategic initiatives that advance Alberta's economic, labour market, and immigration goals. The role operates in a dynamic environment requiring collaboration with partners across the Government of Alberta, as well as provincial and federal, partners. Key responsibilities may include: Lead the development and modernization of immigration policies, programs, legislation, and regulations. Provide strategic policy advice and recommendations to senior leadership. Guide research, analysis, and evidence-based decision-making related to immigration priorities. Build and maintain strong relationships with partners across government and external stakeholder organizations. Represent Alberta at key intergovernmental meetings, forums, and working groups. Support provincial strategies related to immigration, labour market needs, and talent attraction. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of policy professionals and subject matter experts. Oversee briefing materials, action requests, stakeholder correspondence, and reporting requirements. Manage operational priorities, resource allocation, staffing, and budget-related activities. Qualifications A University graduation in a related field; and 4 years of progressive related experience ; or equivalent as described below. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. Proven leadership experience managing and coaching technical or professional staff is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in policy development, strategic planning, project management, or a related public policy environment. Experience leading teams and managing complex initiatives. Knowledge of policy development processes and project management methodologies. Knowledge of Canadian intergovernmental relations and international labour mobility. Strong analytical, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills. Assets Experience working in immigration policy or programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of current economic, political, social, and international issues. Experience building partnerships across multiple organizations and jurisdictions. Diplomacy and negotiation skills in complex stakeholder environments.
