Within the Ministry of Education and Childcare, the System Support and Governance Division supports the education system through strategic policy, stakeholder relations, governance, and intergovernmental coordination. The Stakeholder Relations/Intergovernmental Relations unit works with school authorities, education partners, Government of Alberta ministries, federal partners, and provincial-territorial counterparts to support collaboration, program implementation, accountability, and reporting requirements related to key education initiatives, including the National School Food Program. To learn more about the Ministry of Education & Childcare, please visit: https://www.alberta.ca/education-and-childcare Role Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, Intergovernmental Relations, the National School Food Program (NSFP) Coordinator supports Alberta’s implementation of the Canada-Alberta National School Food Program Agreement. This position coordinates reporting, accountability, stakeholder engagement, risk management, intergovernmental coordination, and federal funding administration to support effective program delivery and ensure Alberta meets its obligations under the agreement. Reporting and AccountabilityCoordinate the collection, validation, analysis, and improvement of program data and reporting processes to support interim, annual, and ad hoc reporting requirements under the NSFP Agreement. Strategic Analysis and Decision SupportPrepare briefing materials, correspondence, presentations, research, jurisdictional scans, and evidence-based advice to support executive and ministerial decision-making. Stakeholder Engagement and Information ManagementServe as a point of contact for school authorities and education partners, coordinate engagement activities, analyze feedback, and maintain accurate program resources and communications. Risk Management and Program DeliveryMonitor operational, program, and stakeholder risks; identify issues; recommend mitigation strategies; and track commitments, deliverables, and reporting deadlines to support successful implementation. Intergovernmental Policy Advice and RepresentationResearch and analyze federal, provincial, and territorial school food program developments, support Alberta positions, and contribute to collaborative intergovernmental work related to education and school food programming. Federal Funding AdministrationSupport the administration of federal NSFP funding by assisting with funding policies, procedures, guidelines, reporting requirements, accountability frameworks, and related resources. AgilityAnticipates and responds to changing policies, reporting requirements, funding conditions, stakeholder needs, and intergovernmental priorities while managing risks and keeping program objectives on track. Qualifications University Graduation plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience in policy analysis and development or similar; or equivalent as described below. Required Experience coordinating initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and tight timelines. Experience preparing briefings, reports, correspondence, presentations, and strategic advice for senior leadership. Experience analyzing data, research, policy information, or reporting submissions to support evidence-based decision-making. Experience managing reporting, compliance, or accountability requirements related to funding agreements, programs, or policy initiatives. Experience building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program delivery and accountability. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other data analysis and reporting tools. Assets Knowledge of Alberta’s education system, including school authority structures and education sector stakeholders. Knowledge of federal-provincial-territorial relations, intergovernmental agreements, or funding arrangements. Knowledge of performance measurement, accountability frameworks, or data analysis methodologies.
