Duties: The Park Planner provides planning expertise to support the strategic direction established for the provincial park system. The role leads park planning initiatives, including new park establishment, park management planning, working with Indigenous partners, and the development of policies and projects that support and balance conservation, land use, recreation, and visitor experience objectives in provincial parks across the province. Qualifications: Essential: Post Secondary education in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Landscape Planning, Conservation Biology, Ecosystem Management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience completing complex planning, policy or project initiatives Experience conducting consultation and engagement processes with a variety of stakeholders and building and maintaining effective relationships with community groups, stakeholders, and Indigenous partners. Knowledge of land use planning and natural resource management for conservation, restoration, education, and recreation purposes. Knowledge of biodiversity conservation, protected areas science, and ecological principles. Knowledge and understanding of Treaty and Indigenous rights as they relate to provincial park establishment and management. Experience with GIS applications (ArcGIS 3.2 or newer versions) and applying GIS data to planning projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex park management issues. Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to diverse audiences. Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, management plans, briefing materials, and technical documents. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a complex planning environment.
