So will you. As an Ophthalmic Technician with the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority, you'll do far more than conduct examinations. Imagine starting your day helping a patient preserve their sight and independence. You'll assess, diagnose, educate, and guide patients through complex eye health journeys while working alongside ophthalmologists, physicians, nurses, and community healthcare teams. One moment you're performing advanced diagnostic testing, the next you're assisting in surgery, providing treatment plans, or serving as the trusted clinical expert for communities across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Your expertise directly prevents vision loss, restores quality of life, and creates lasting impact for thousands of patients every year. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $106,158 - $126,809 Northern living allowance $3,700 Bilingual bonus: $1,800 *if applicable Northern tax deductions after 6 months Paid relocation See patients by day. Qualifications Certification to practice as an Ophthalmic Medical Technician through the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Completion of the Stanton Ophthalmic Medical Technology Training Program or another accredited Ophthalmic Medical Technology Training Program. Continuing Education: Obtain 27 credits (Technician level) or 36 hours (Technologist level) of continuing education every 3 years to maintain the license as required by JCAHPO. Requirements

Candidates must hold a certification as an Ophthalmic Medical Technician through JCAHPO. Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Medical Technology Training Program is also required.
