The Grande Prairie Police Service is assembling to create a locally responsive police service with local oversight that meets community needs and helps create a safe and vibrant Grande Prairie, now and into the future.

Conduct field-based outreach and assess the vulnerability, risks, and immediate needs of people experiencing addiction, mental health challenges, homelessness, public intoxication, or related concerns. Provide necessities and connect clients with shelters, health care, addiction treatment, housing, or safe spaces, while also assisting businesses and residents with community concerns.

Provide frontline operational and administrative support to police officers, responding to requests through phone, radio, email, and internal messaging. Conduct database searches and enter information in policing and justice systems, coordinate support-unit callouts, and monitor communications from partner agencies.

Enforce applicable municipal bylaws and provincial and federal laws through patrols, investigations, evidence collection, reporting, and court testimony. Support public safety through traffic and animal control, community engagement, assistance to partner agencies, and tactful resolution of confrontational situations.
