Job summary
POSITION SUMMARY The Buyer at Grimco is responsible for supporting the timely procurement and delivery of materials to meet customer demand while maintaining appropriate inventory levels across multiple regional warehouses. This role plays a key part in supporting inventory accuracy, vendor relationships, and operational efficiency within a fast-paced wholesale distribution environment. The Buyer must be highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented while managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively with vendors, warehouse teams, and internal departments. This role is based at Grimco Corporate in Richmond Hill, with scheduled hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Purchase Order Management: Manage the setup, review, and processing of purchase orders to support inventory needs across multiple regional warehouses. * Vendor Coordination: Maintain strong working relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery, product availability, and issue resolution. * Inventory Management: Review inventory levels, reorder reports, and purchasing data to maintain stock levels within approved guidelines. * Branch Support: Support branch operations by monitoring inventory availability and assisting with product allocation and transfers as needed. * Reporting & Analysis: Create and analyze purchasing, inventory, and vendor performance reports using Excel and internal systems. * Aged Inventory Review: Analyze slow-moving and aged inventory while collaborating with vendors and internal teams to reduce excess stock. * Cross-Functional Communication: Work closely with Sales, Shipping, Inventory Control, and Warehouse teams to coordinate purchasing activities and inventory updates. * System Administration: Maintain accurate purchasing data and support purchasing system processes within Infor Cloudsuite Distribution Enterprise. * Inventory Trend Monitoring: Monitor purchasing and inventory trends to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and inventory improvements. * Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and purchasing information while supporting general procurement administration. * Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve purchasing workflows, reporting processes, and inventory management practices. * Additional Duties: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * 2–5 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, or administrative experience in a fast-paced environment preferred. * Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred. * Experience with purchasing systems, ERP software, or inventory management systems considered an asset. * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel. * Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt within a fast-paced environment. * Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. * Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
