Job summary
Job Title: General Laborer Department: Production Reports to: Production Supervisor Classification: Non-Exempt Location: Welland, ON Travel: None Job Summary: The general laborer performs a variety of tasks under close supervision of higher-level employees. These tasks may include assisting with extra workload, prepping machines and tools for jobs, and eventually learning how to operate the machines. Duties/Responsibilities: Cleaning and lubricating equipment, maintaining a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt, and readies or puts away tools as assigned. Closely following directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items on machinery. Performing a variety of manual tasks. Assisting with prepping machines for jobs. Reporting any issues to supervisor or higher-level employees. Performing other related duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Job training for this position is provided by the department trainer. Required Skills/Abilities: Job training for this position is provided by the department trainer. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions. Ability to work in a variety of roles. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
