Job Summary Reporting to the Supervisor of Inclusion Services and Family and Community Behavioural Services, the Behaviour Consultant supports caregivers and professionals who work with children and youth two (2) to twenty-one (21) years of age with behavioural concerns, who has been diagnosed with a developmental disability (not including Autism Spectrum Disorder) or probable or confirmed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.Duties & Responsibilities Provide service in a way that builds capacity within families/teams and enables parents and professionals to strengthen knowledge and insight into their child’s behaviour and skills. Provide services to families and caregivers in their home, child-care centres, schools and community programs. Facilitate meetings with parents, caregivers and professionals to explore their concerns, strengths, skills and abilities and to develop a family plan through a collaborative approach. Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation. Facilitate community in-services, education seminars, parent groups and child/youth groups. Participate on community committees. Utilize evidence-based intervention practices. Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Resource Consultants, Developmental Consultants and Behaviour Consultants. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications University degree in psychology, social work, or a related degree from a recognized university. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with children, youth, families and community programs to support behaviour needs. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience with behaviour needs assessment of children and youth with developmental disabilities and/or FASD. Able to engage in Reflective Practice and work collaboratively with community services. Experience with the use of Brief Narrative approaches and or Motivational Interviewing approaches. Strong skills in verbal and written communication, group facilitation and consultation. Knowledge of family-centered, strength-based practice and dual-diagnosis. Experience in building parent capacity through a coaching approach. Able to work independently and as part of a team, and to be flexible and responsive to shifting service demands. Strong understanding of confidentiality, boundaries and ethical decision making. Skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Fluency in French or a second language other than English is an asset. Working/ Employment Conditions Working Conditions Travel will be required. Must provide own transportation. The position requires flexibility in working hours to support operational requirements and community engagement activities, which may include evening appointments or meetings. The role is community‑based and requires the incumbent to spend a minimum of three (3) days per week in the community, with in‑person attendance at the Halton Regional Centre for meetings on additional days, as required. The Behaviour Consultant supports children and youth with developmental disabilities or FASD by providing capacity-building services to families and professionals. They facilitate collaborative family plans, conduct community education, and participate in a multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based interventions.

Candidates must hold a university degree in psychology, social work, or a related field and possess at least two years of experience working with children and families. A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a vulnerable sector police record check are also required.
