The Bio Med Technologist is responsible for the inspection, repair, calibration, and maintenance of augmentative communication systems. They also provide technical assistance, user training, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to meet client needs in clinical and community settings.

Primarily responsible for service at Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre, may work in home or in the community as required. Performs standard biomedical technologist duties such as inspection, repair, calibration, maintenance, installation/mounting of augmentative communication systems. Assists with ordering and receiving of purchased and leased equipment. Required to perform physical and virtual device inspection and troubleshooting; user training and technical assistance when required. Takes part in innovative design, modification, construction, mounting and evaluation of various communication devices, software/apps and upgrades to meet client needs. 1. Graduate of an accredited college Electronics and/or Biomedical Technology Program or other related program 2. 2-3 years’ experience in the field of Biomedical Technology 3. AAC experience, particularly in rehabilitation 4. Strong knowledge of electronics, medical devices/systems, some understanding of anatomy and physiology 5. Proficient in all versions of Microsoft Windows/iOS 6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and consult with healthcare professionals, clients and community caregivers. 7. Ability to work in a changing environment that demands high productivity, organizational skills, and flexibility 8. Access to a reliable and insured vehicle with $1,000,000 liability insurance which would allow for home and community visits 9. Fluency in French will be considered an asset 10. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
