The Medical Laboratory Assistant performs essential laboratory tasks including sample reception, processing, and specimen collection. They also support trained technologists by assessing specimen acceptability and loading laboratory analyzers.

Job details

Under supervision and direction the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of laboratory tasks in the Core Laboratory to assist the trained technologists in various sections within the Department of Laboratory Medicine. This includes but is not limited to sample reception and processing, assessing specimen acceptability, loading analyzers, and specimen collection as required. 1. Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent 2. MLPAO or CSMLS Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate 3. Recent (minimum 3 years) experience 4. Experience in receiving and handling Laboratory Specimens 5. Experience and demonstrated proficiency in blood collection and collection of other body fluids as necessary 6. Data entry and Order entry skills in Epic Beaker 7. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Requirements
