Job summary
As a member of the health care team, the Education Clinician, teaches, plans, develops, implements and evaluates education and development programs to enhance clinical proficiency, quality improvement and team skills. Facilitates and expedites continuous learning and professional development through coaching and/or mentoring of staff and clients. Facilitates appropriate coordination of resources to meet identified education and development needs. The Education Clinician is assigned to support the McMaster Children’s Hospital Emergency Department and with the HHS Bio-containment Team. The Education Clinician is a part of a corporate education resource team also supporting central education programs and must be able to work at all sites of HHS. 1. Baccalaureate level Nursing degree, Masters preferred 2. Current Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario 3. Minimum 3-5 years recent experience in pediatric emergency nursing 4. Minimum 2 years of recent experience in adult education 5. Demonstrated proficiency in the mentoring and development of new staff 6. Evidence of ability to develop, conduct and evaluate educational programs to learners from a variety of health care disciplines 7. Demonstrated competencies in team building, organizational skills, leadership and presenting/managing change in a positive manner 8. Recent (within the last 2 years) demonstrated ability and experience as an educator developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating adult education programs 9. Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively with conflicting demands in a fast paced, complex environment 10. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills 11. Evidence of continuous commitment to ongoing education aligned with excellence in emergency nursing as outlined by the National Emergency Nurses Association (NENA) 12. Formal Simulation training or certification from a recognized organization (e.g., Simulation Canada) 13. Current BLS certification 14. Current PALS certification 15. Current ATCN certification preferred

Requirements
Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a current Registered Nurse certificate with the College of Nurses of Ontario. The role requires 3-5 years of recent pediatric emergency nursing experience and at least 2 years of experience in adult education.
