Job details
Position: Permanent, full-time Work environment: Hybrid (1-day a week in-office) Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario Salary: Up to $135,000 base salary Position Overview Hammehr invites applications for the role of IT Manager on behalf of our client for a full-time permanent opportunity. The IT Manager will lead a small IT function, combining strategic planning and systems implementation with hands-on responsibility for infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technical operations. The current environment includes Microsoft 365, HubSpot, and combination of on-premises and cloud technologies. A significant part of the mandate involves evaluating existing systems, identifying where automation and AI can provide practical improvements, and implementing changes without compromising security or business continuity. The work calls for someone who can move between technical troubleshooting, business-process analysis, and the delivery of technology projects. What You'll Do Develop and execute an IT roadmap that addresses infrastructure reliability, cybersecurity, business-system modernization, automation, and technology investment priorities Evaluate existing applications and workflows, including CRM and management systems, to determine where integration, replacement, or process redesign would improve operations Lead technology implementations from requirements gathering and solution evaluation through configuration, data migration, testing, and adoption Assess and implement practical applications of AI and automation, including connecting business systems and reducing manual work while establishing appropriate security, privacy, and access controls Maintain hands-on oversight of firewalls, network infrastructure, Windows servers, virtualization, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra, including troubleshooting when needed Manage cybersecurity controls, including identity management, endpoint protection, patching, threat monitoring, incident response, backups, and disaster recovery testing Coordinate internal IT support, external vendors, software licensing, and technology contracts, including evaluating whether selected support functions would be better delivered through external providers Work with business leaders and operational teams to understand system limitations, explain technical tradeoffs, establish implementation priorities, and translate technology decisions into workable changes Basic Qualifications Substantial hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting business IT infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, network infrastructure, and virtualized environments Experience implementing and maintaining cybersecurity controls, backup and recovery processes, and operational security practices across business systems Demonstrated experience delivering technology improvements or system implementations, including application integration, data management, and coordination with non-technical stakeholders Practical experience introducing automation or AI-enabled tools into business workflows, with an understanding of data privacy, security, and operational reliability Experience prioritizing IT initiatives, managing technical service delivery, and coordinating internal resources or external vendors while remaining directly involved in technical work Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with Sophos firewalls and security products, VMware virtualization, and Synology backup solutions Familiarity with HPE Aruba switches, Ubiquiti networking products, and the administration of LAN/WAN environments Experience using Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot, or similar technologies to automate processes, integrate applications, or improve how employees access information Experience managing SharePoint environments, SQL Server databases, reporting tools, or business-data integrations Familiarity with HubSpot or comparable CRM and industry-specific business platforms, particularly where information needs to move between systems The Challenges The existing technology environment must remain operational and secure while applications, workflows, and infrastructure are being evaluated for improvement or replacement Modernization will require decisions about what to retain, integrate, automate, or replace. New technologies, including AI, must be assessed against implementation effort, cost, security, and practical business value The IT function is small, so strategic initiatives will coexist with hands-on technical responsibilities. Some maintenance or operational issues may require evening or weekend work, including physical access to IT equipment Your Impact Business teams have more reliable systems, clearer access to information, and fewer manual steps between applications and everyday processes Technology changes are implemented with greater consistency, while cybersecurity controls, recoverability, and business continuity are maintained or strengthened Leadership has clearer information about technology investment, system limitations, vendor options, and the practical benefits and risks of modernization decisions
