Your New Company Our client is a highly regarded boutique family law firm in downtown Toronto with a sophisticated practice and an excellent reputation in the legal community. The firm offers a collaborative, professional and team-oriented environment, with lawyers and clerks working closely together on complex family law matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Law Clerk looking to join a leading practice where you can take ownership of your work, build a strong relationship with the lawyer you support and continue developing your expertise. Your New Role As Family Law Clerk, you will work closely with a busy, high-performing associate who is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented clerk who can stay one step ahead and deliver consistently excellent work. This is not a traditional position focused exclusively on substantive clerking. The firm's clerks work in a hybrid Clerk/Legal Assistant capacity, taking ownership of both substantive family law work and the administrative responsibilities required to keep a busy practice running smoothly. You will assist with the preparation and organization of family law documentation, correspondence, file and deadline management, court-related materials and general administrative support. You will need to be highly organized, adaptable and comfortable working with a lawyer who has high standards and established processes for how work is completed. The position has a productivity target of approximately 70 billable hours per month. What You'll Need to Succeed To succeed in this position, you will bring: 3+ years of relevant family law clerk experience Strong knowledge of Ontario family law procedures and documentation Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy The ability to balance substantive clerking responsibilities with administrative support Strong calendar, deadline and file-management skills A proactive mindset and the ability to anticipate what needs to happen next The ability to adapt to established processes and individual working styles Strong written and verbal communication skills The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy practice A collaborative and professional approach This is not an entry-level opportunity. The firm is looking for someone who can step into an established practice, take ownership of their responsibilities and develop a strong long-term working relationship with the lawyer they support.
