About the position: The Public Health Nurse will be responsible for the provision of nursing interventions which promote and preserve the health of communities, families and individuals across the lifespan; functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services; uses principles of community development to identify health issues, advocates for policy change; applies innovative health promotion strategies to facilitate healthy living in the community. Qualifications And Competencies BScN including preparation in public health nursing Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses Experience in community-based service delivery Self-starter demonstrating initiative and with the ability to take appropriate action/direction Demonstrated knowledge and application of community assessment, knowledge and understanding of the core functions and approaches of public health practice, understanding of health promotion strategies, and project management skills Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team setting Ability to provide non-judgmental and inclusive service to all clients Masters level education is considered an asset A valid Ontario driver’s license, with valid insurance and reliable vehicle access Valid immunization status, in accordance with organizational requirements.
