Role and Facility Information A locum opportunity is available for a family physician at this beautiful Medical Centre. Excellent family practice opportunity located adjacent to Port Hardy Hospital, in a modern and growing group practice in a fully owned and operated Island Health facility. This is an exciting opportunity to practice rural health care, and to join colleagues that include neighboring rural physicians in providing full spectrum Primary Care to Emergency Services in the Mount Waddington region. Start Date As soon as possible. Benefits Rural GP Locum Program provides $900/day to locum physician with 43 days/annum locum coverage to resident physician. Community Information The colorful seaside community of Port Hardy, on the north-eastern coast of Vancouver Island, is the largest town of the North Island and is the gateway to Cape Scott Provincial Park. The community is home to a population of 3,800 residents and offers affordable housing and boasts a broad range of services and retail outlets. Port Hardy is a supply center to the mid-coast area and while its main industries were historically based in mining, fishing and forestry, it is emerging as a green ecotourism destination on Vancouver Island. Spectacular mountain views, large expanses of natural wilderness and miles of undeveloped coastline are readily accessible, providing an ideal venue for sport fishing, scuba diving, caving, kayaking and recreational boating.
