Your opportunity Join our growing team providing consulting services in noise, vibration, and acoustics on projects across Canada, the United States, and abroad. You'll work on a diverse range of projects spanning commercial, residential, industrial, scientific, healthcare, transportation, defence, institutional, and other sectors. Projects may involve environmental noise and vibration, architectural acoustics, building vibration isolation, transportation systems, industrial facilities, and other specialized applications. As an Intermediate Acoustical Consultant, you will play a key role in the technical execution and delivery of projects while building client relationships and supporting the development of junior staff. This role is well suited to a qualified professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of project outcomes. You will work collaboratively with professionals across all levels of the organization, contributing both as a technical resource and as a leader within project teams. Your key functions & responsibilities You will contribute to all phases of project delivery, including: Conducting field measurements and instrumentation-based data collection Developing engineering and acoustical models to analyze project conditions Performing technical analyses, interpreting results, and developing practical solutions Preparing technical reports, documentation, and project deliverables Reviewing project work to maintain high standards of technical quality Coordinating project activities, schedules, and deliverables with project teams Supporting proposal preparation and responding to client inquiries Serving as a primary day-to-day contact for clients on assigned projects Monitoring project budgets and schedules with support from senior project leaders Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, consultants, and technologists Contributing to the ongoing advancement of HGC's technical capabilities and areas of expertise Representing HGC professionally with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders Your characteristics, skills & knowledge Successful candidates will demonstrate: Strong technical knowledge of acoustics, vibration, noise, or related engineering disciplines Experience with measurement instrumentation, modelling, simulation, and data analysis Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing project requirements A collaborative approach and commitment to client service Sound professional judgement and personal accountability Working knowledge of project coordination and management principles Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant technical software Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation Your education & career experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Acoustics, or a related discipline Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or equivalent professional certification Experience in noise, vibration, acoustics, or a related engineering field Experience in a dynamic consulting environment is strongly preferred, particularly within architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), or industrial sectors Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and client relationships, preferably within AEC or industrial consulting environments Demonstrated ability to coordinate project deliverables and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams Experience preparing proposals and supporting business development activities is considered an asset Experience mentoring or overseeing junior staff is considered an asset The ideal candidate is an established professional who is ready to take ownership of technical work, client relationships, and project delivery while continuing to grow within a specialized consulting environment.
