The Opportunity Highspring is seeking a Data Engineer to join a strategic database engineering and platform development team supporting enterprise-scale data infrastructure. This role is ideal for an intermediate to strong junior professional with a passion for database technologies, data platforms, and performance optimization. You will contribute to the evolution of large-scale database environments, support modernization initiatives, and help drive cloud adoption across mission-critical systems. Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with experienced engineers on highly available, performance-sensitive platforms that support trading, reporting, and reference data services. What You'll Do Contribute to database engineering and platform development initiatives across large-scale database environments. Support the design, testing, and deployment of database changes with a focus on resiliency, stability, and quality. Perform performance tuning and optimization activities, including query analysis, indexing strategies, workload management, and capacity planning. Participate in database modernization and migration initiatives involving next-generation data platforms. Assist with platform upgrades, patching activities, and operational readiness improvements. Develop automation, tooling, and standardization solutions to improve platform efficiency. Support deployment and management activities within cloud-based environments. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile delivery model. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, reliability, and operational excellence. What You Bring to the Table 3-7 years of experience working with enterprise database technologies and infrastructure. Strong interest in database engineering, platform architecture, and data technologies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams. Experience working within Agile delivery environments. Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment to quality. Eagerness to learn and expand technical and business knowledge. Core Skills Required Experience with major relational database platforms such as Sybase, DB2, or comparable RDBMS technologies. Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization. Strong Python scripting capabilities for automation, diagnostics, and tooling development. Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience supporting data-intensive, high-performance production environments.
