The Opportunity Highspring is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the evolution of a modern enterprise data platform. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with strong software development capabilities and deep expertise in modern data engineering practices. You will design, build, and enhance scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, guide technical decisions, contribute to code quality initiatives, and help establish engineering best practices across the team. What You'll Do Data Platform Architecture & Engineering Design and maintain scalable data solutions within Microsoft Fabric using a Medallion Architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers. Enhance and support enterprise-scale data platforms, including Data Warehouses and Data Lakes. Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using SQL and Big Data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Hadoop. Build reliable ingestion, transformation, and distribution processes for data sourced from multiple systems. Integrate internal, external, and IoT data sources to support business and analytical requirements. Develop backend data solutions that empower analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders. Operations, Quality & Delivery Apply DevOps practices to improve development efficiency and deployment reliability. Identify automation opportunities and streamline data delivery processes. Ensure compliance with data governance, architecture, and security standards. Monitor and support data pipelines, troubleshooting issues as they arise. Collaboration & Technical Leadership Partner closely with product teams, architects, data specialists, and business stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges. Participate in technical decision-making, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Support cross-functional data and AI-related projects and initiatives. Mentor team members and advocate for engineering excellence. What You Bring to the Table Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree considered an asset. Minimum of 6 years of experience in Data Engineering. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and technical leadership capabilities. Core Skills Required Advanced experience with Python, Spark, and SQL. Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including: Lakehouses OneLake Pipelines Notebooks Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) Experience using Git and Visual Studio Code in modern development environments. Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms. Experience with Terraform. Expertise with relational and NoSQL databases, including: SQL Server PostgreSQL Cosmos DB Our Stack Programming: Python, SQL Big Data: Spark, Kafka, Hadoop Data Platform: Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouses Cloud & Data Services: Azure, Databricks, Purview Orchestration: Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, ARM Version Control & DevOps: Git, GitHub, CI/CD Streaming: Spark Streaming Containers: Kubernetes Analytics & Visualization: Power BI

Requirements
