Job summary

About the Role We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support and evolve a complex, large-scale database ecosystem supporting critical Settlements platform initiatives. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise across multiple database technologies, strong operational experience, and the ability to provide technical leadership regarding database strategy, modernization, and platform improvements. The successful candidate will work closely with global technology teams, database administrators, and application development teams to ensure the stability, performance, scalability, and modernization of critical data platforms. Key Responsibilities Administer, support, and maintain multiple database platforms across production and non-production environments. Ensure overall database health, availability, reliability, performance, and security. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database issues in large-scale enterprise environments. Perform database performance tuning, optimization, capacity planning, and root cause analysis. Provide technical guidance and recommendations on database architecture, modernization, and future-state strategies. Evaluate, recommend, and assist in the implementation of new database technologies and solutions. Support database migration, transformation, and modernization initiatives. Collaborate closely with development teams supporting the Settlements platform and other critical business applications. Develop and implement operational best practices, automation, and process improvements. Participate in disaster recovery planning, backup/recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions. Work effectively within a global team while managing priorities independently. Required Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience with several of the following technologies: Database Technologies SQL Sybase DB2 Snowflake Greenplum SQL Server SingleStore or similar modern distributed database platforms Additional Expertise Database architecture and design Performance tuning and optimization Large-scale database administration Database migration and modernization projects SQL and NoSQL technologies Distributed database environments High-availability and disaster recovery solutions Database monitoring and operational support Required Qualifications 8-12 years of experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or similar role. Proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments. Experience managing environments containing 10-15 TB or more of data. Strong understanding of database performance, architecture, scalability, and operational best practices. Demonstrated experience contributing to database transformation, migration, and modernization initiatives. Ability to provide technical recommendations and influence database strategy. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with technical and business stakeholders across global teams. Self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience within financial services, capital markets, or large enterprise environments. Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures. Experience supporting mission-critical transaction-processing systems. Knowledge of automation and infrastructure-as-code practices for database operations.
