For further information visit: http://homewardtrust.ca/ Position Summary The Retail Sales Associate supports the day-to-day operations of the retail store by providing exceptional customer service, processing sales transactions, merchandising products, maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment, and assisting with general store operations. This position contributes to a positive customer experience while ensuring efficient and effective retail operations. This is a casual position, with regular weekend availability required. The successful candidate may also be scheduled for additional shifts based on operational needs. Reporting to the Retail Supervisor, the Retail Sales Associate works collaboratively with team members to support store goals and provide excellent service to customers and donors. Duties & Responsibilities Provide friendly, professional customer service and assist customers with product selection and inquiries. Process cash, debit, and credit card transactions accurately. Balance cash drawer and complete opening and closing procedures as assigned. Receive, price, stock, and merchandise products on the sales floor. Maintain attractive product displays and ensure merchandise is organized. Assist customers with purchases, pickups, and general store information. Safely move and load furniture and other merchandise using proper lifting techniques and equipment. Inspect merchandise before it is placed on the sales floor. Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, cash area, warehouse, and surrounding work areas. Follow health and safety policies and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient daily store operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service experience required. Retail sales experience is considered an asset. Experience operating a point-of-sale system and handling cash transactions is an asset. Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment is preferred. Knowledge Skills & Abilities Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills and ability to learn retail software and point-of-sale systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout the workday. Ability to wear steel-toe footwear as required. Availability to work weekends is required. Flexibility to work additional shifts, including evenings and holidays, based on operational needs. Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.
