Title – Platform Engineer Client – Award winning Financial Trading firm run by passionate Computer Scientists Salary – Up to $220,000 + an exceptional bonus and package Location – Montreal, City based (stunning offices) The Company A leading global quantitative investment firm, built on research, technology and data. Engineers here work closely with researchers and developers, and the platform they build underpins compute-intensive research and trading workloads across the business. The Role You’ll deliver and maintain mission-critical platform infrastructure using a DevOps methodology, working with developers, researchers and infrastructure teams to build, automate and scale the services used across the firm. The impact is direct: improving operational efficiency, building CI/CD pipelines and self-service workflows, and making life better for developers and researchers. You may have deep expertise in one or two areas, but you’ll be able to contribute across the whole ecosystem. Platform Domains Observability: monitoring, tracing, logging and alerting Scheduling and orchestration: HPC schedulers and container orchestration, including Kubernetes Development tools: CI/CD, version control, artifact repositories and developer platforms Middleware: messaging queues, service discovery and load balancing Databases: relational, NoSQL and time-series systems Automation: infrastructure automation, configuration management and self-service enablement Essential Skills Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field 4+ years in DevOps, SRE or platform engineering Python software development Linux system administration and troubleshooting (Bash, Docker, Kubernetes) Infrastructure automation and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet) Nice to Have Hands-on Kubernetes: cluster operations, scheduling compute-intensive jobs, custom Operators Observability stack knowledge (Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, Vector, AlertManager) Database experience (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, MSSQL, Redis, FoundationDB) Middleware (Kafka, Consul), HPC schedulers (Slurm) or workflow orchestrators (Airflow, Prefect) On-prem deployment of tools like GitLab, Artifactory, CI/CD or JupyterHub Go, Rust or JavaScript API development and extending Kubernetes via custom controllers and CRDs What’s on Offer Work on genuinely challenging, compute-intensive platform problems A direct line to the researchers and developers who use what you build A technology-first culture with real influence over platform direction Please register your interest by applying directly here or feel free to email me: jhayne@hunterbond.com!

Requires a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus at least four years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering. Candidates should have Python development skills, Linux administration and troubleshooting experience, and familiarity with containers and infrastructure automation tools.
