Job summary
SQL Database Engineer / Database Administrator Remote/Canada Long-term Contract Key Responsibilities: Design, create, and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures. Develop and execute DDL scripts for database creation and modification. Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management. Support database migration activities, including moving existing databases to cloud environments. Create copies of databases/tables and manage data movement across environments. Collaborate with application teams and ETL developers Ensure database objects are designed and implemented according to best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues. Required Skills: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Sound knowledge of database design, schema creation, and data modeling. Expertise in writing DDL scripts and creating tables, indexes, and stored procedures. Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Experience supporting database migration projects. Ability to work closely with application development teams and ETL developers. Exposure to AWS database services and cloud migration projects is a plus. Understanding of cloud-based database architectures and deployments. Preferred: Experience in migrating on-prem database to cloud environment (either AWS RDS or Azure Cloud SQL Server Database
