Job Description We are currently seeking a Chief Power Engineer to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Calgary, AB Plant. This state of the art manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Chief Power Engineer is responsible for overseeing a number of site critical equipment such as oil heaters, HVAC equipment, compressors, steam systems and fire prevention systems and performing routine preventative maintenance, checks, and ensuring equipment meets ABSA standards/requirements. Benefits Health Insurance (includes Virtual Health, and HCSA), Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, Short-term Disability RRSP Match Paid Vacation Floating Days Employee Assistance Program Employee Engagement Events Awards and Recognition Tuition reimbursement Service Awards Employee Perks & Discounts Job Responsibilities Responsible for all site oil heaters – maintenance of log books, conducting regular safety checks as per ABSA requirements, completion of Preventative Maintenance on controls, system checks from expansion tank to heaters once per day, check for leakage from oil-asphalt-air on systems, and complete checks on C8 oil heaters. Oversee HVAC equipment, including checking filters and cleaning and replacing as needed, conducting regular preventative maintenance (including lubrication), LC’s on belts, and arranging for site contractors for major repairs/overhauls. Responsible for compressors – conducting preventative maintenance on air dryers-filters, maintain list and inspection on pressure vessels. Conduct system checks on blowers, filler unload, and process. Responsible for steam systems and Oxidizer area by checking and inspecting for leaks, performing preventative maintenance on steam traps, and performing repairs as necessary. Fire Prevention Systems – performing weekly checks on all on-site sprinkler systems, testing fire pump in C2 Plant, monthly trip tests on dry sprinkler systems (site-wide), monthly fire extinguisher inspection (compile reports from all areas) and Quarterly PID checks and turning underground valves. Qualifications 3rd Class Power Engineering ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association) Designation Comfortable performing preventative maintenance, checks, and ensuring compliance with ABSA requirements Previous industrial manufacturing plant experience is an asset Structured problem-solving skills Usage of tools and processes to ensure a successful accomplishment of expected goals Project implementation skills from initial planning stages to completion Computer skills -- Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook Organizational skills; ability to manage short and long-term projects Communication skills; verbal and written fluency in English, effective presentation skills, ability to communicate with individuals at all levels (shop floor personnel to senior management) Effective planning skills with prioritizing, time management skills Excellent team player Note: This is a Safety Sensitive position Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
