Job Description Job Advertisement We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician in a permanent full-time position to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Calgary Plant. This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment. Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance, and assuring that finished product complies with company, industry and government standards. Benefits Health Insurance (includes Virtual Health, and HCSA), Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, Short-term Disability RRSP Match Paid Vacation Floating Days Employee Assistance Program Employee Engagement Events Awards and Recognition Tuition reimbursement Service Awards Employee Perks & Discounts Job Responsibilities Perform tests in the Laboratory on key parameters associated with the quality assurance of finished products Monitors the quality of finished products in Real time, resolves with production team and escalates quality issues on a timely basis Monitors quality impact of new production processes, methods, or equipment Implements ongoing quality improvement processes and procedures working with interdepartmental teams and with the involvement of the production employees Support the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance Measures quality assurance metrics to opportunities for improvement, progress on goals and accountability for performance Identifies, troubleshoots and drives resolution of production quality deficiencies and problems Escalate quality assurance issues to the Quality team and Plant management on a timely basis Ensures that the Lab equipment is calibrated and in good condition and communicates material and spare requirements in advance Collates and analyses performance data and charts against defined parameters Works with shipping to ensure that outgoing products are sorted segregated, isolated and downgraded as per disposition from the quality team Qualifications Diploma or Degree in a Science related field 1-3 years of experience in an industrial process manufacturing environment in a quality assurance role with hands-on experience with quality management systems preferred Proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint Ability to lift 25lbs - Lifting bundles of shingles Experience working in a Laboratory environment and calibrating troubleshooting instruments will be an asset Ability to prioritize tasks a fast-paced environment where tests results may be required quickly Communication: Ability to interact with Frontline teams Self-initiative: Ability to work diligently without supervision Team player: Able to help QA/QC supervisor with tasks assigned Note: This is a Safety Sensitive position #LI-DI1 Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
