The CNC Machinist / Machine Operator’s primary focus is to program, set up, and operate CNC lathes, Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs), and milling machines to machine metallic workpieces in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. We are seeking experienced machinists with strong CNC machining backgrounds, particularly those with experience operating Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs) and working with FANUC controls. Candidates must have sufficient experience and familiarity with CNC programming, setup, operation, and precision measurement techniques. Day and Afternoon Shift opportunities are available. (Afternoon shifts are 4 days X 10 hours -you can have 3 days weekends every week!) Education, Skills and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Journeyman Machinist Certificate or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience operating CNC lathes, mills, and Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs). Experience in programming and operating machines using FANUC controls. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric tolerances (GD&T). Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, and speeds. Ability to read and understand written work instructions and follow verbal direction. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively manage time and meet production deadlines. Computer literacy and familiarity with CNC programming software. Experience with pumps and pump systems is considered an asset. Valid First Aid Certification is considered an asset. Key Duties and Responsibilities Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, specifications, reference plans, and machining parameters. Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Program, set up, and operate CNC mills, lathes, and Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs). Enter and edit machine programs, tool offsets, compensation values, and machine parameters using FANUC controls. Calculate dimensions and machining requirements using geometry, trigonometry, and basic mathematics. Prove out and verify CNC programs prior to production. Set up machines by installing and adjusting chucks, fixtures, tooling, attachments, and work holding devices. Verify machine settings and product quality through first-off inspections and in-process checks. Maintain dimensional accuracy and specifications through drilling, boring, milling, grooving, threading, and cutting operations. Sharpen, replace, and maintain tooling as required. Position and secure parts using lifting devices such as jib hoists and overhead cranes. Cross-train on additional CNC and manual machining equipment as operational needs require. Adhere to company quality standards, inspection procedures, and documentation requirements. Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures to maintain a safe workplace. Perform minor preventative maintenance and daily machine inspections. Complete production, quality, and maintenance documentation accurately. Prepare and maintain required quality records and documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area. Handle and maintain fixtures, gauges, measuring instruments, and inspection equipment required for machining operations. Additional Requirements Available to work day or evening shifts. Willingness to work overtime when required. Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials and components as required. Any other job-related duties or support activities as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Experience machining large components on Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs). Experience with FANUC control systems. Experience in pump repair, manufacturing, or related industrial environments. Current First Aid Certification. Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
