We're looking for team members who value strong relationships, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of professional sports. Role Description: The Hockey Advisor role is a contract, hybrid position with some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising hockey players and their families on development pathways, team and league options, and career decisions, as well as providing ongoing support throughout the season. The Hockey Advisor will monitor player performance, attend games and events when required, and maintain regular communication with coaches, scouts, and players. The role also involves conducting research on leagues and programs, identifying opportunities for client placement, and helping prepare players for tryouts, showcases, and negotiations. The advisor will maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress and contribute to the organization’s reputation for high-quality representation. Qualifications Strong knowledge of hockey development systems, leagues, and pathways (junior, collegiate, professional), as well as the North American and international hockey landscape. Experience advising, coaching, scouting, or mentoring hockey players, with the ability to evaluate talent and provide constructive feedback. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with athletes, families, coaches, and team staff. Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with experience managing multiple clients, schedules, and priorities in a dynamic environment. Proficiency with digital tools for remote work (email, video conferencing, CRM or client-tracking systems) and basic knowledge of Instat/Hudl, FloHockey and RinkNet. Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment when handling confidential client information and career decisions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, including evening and weekend availability for games, events, and client needs. Previous experience in sports management, player representation, coaching, or related fields is an asset; post-secondary education in sports management, business, or a related discipline is preferred.
What you’ll do
The Hockey Advisor will advise hockey players and their families on development pathways and career decisions while providing ongoing support throughout the season. Responsibilities also include monitoring player performance, attending games, and maintaining communication with coaches and scouts.
Requirements
Candidates should have strong knowledge of hockey development systems and experience in advising or coaching players. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple clients are essential, along with proficiency in digital tools.
