What does your availability look like? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Client: A U.S.-based company specializing in mission‑critical technology infrastructure for data centers, telecommunications, and enterprise environments (company disclosed on screening call) • Title: Data Center Technician I / II / Lead • Location: Based in Prince George, BC, Canada. Consultant may reside anywhere in Canada • Duration: 12+ Month Contract • Travel Requirement: 3 Weeks Onsite / 1 Week Home (remote). All travel is covered including lodging and transportation, and $125 of per diem is allotted for each day. • Candidates Must: Currently Reside in Canada and hold work authorization in Canada • Pay Rate: $50/hr CAD ($35/hr USD) Can be flexible based on experience Job Description Insight Global is seeking Data Center Technicians I, II, and Lead Technicians to support large-scale data center deployments and critical infrastructure projects throughout Canada. These individuals will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting network and data center infrastructure in live production environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber and copper cabling, structured cabling systems, rack and stack deployments, hardware installations, and infrastructure troubleshooting. Candidates should be comfortable working independently while supporting medium to large-scale data center operations and buildouts. Lead Technicians should have experience mentoring junior technicians and driving project execution. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of physical network infrastructure, including fiber optic systems, structured cabling, servers, switches, cabinets, and network connectivity. They should be able to interpret technical documentation, follow installation standards, and effectively troubleshoot issues in fast-paced environments. Required Skills & Experience • 2+ years of experience in data centers, telecommunications, structured cabling, network infrastructure, or related environments • Experience working with both copper and fiber optic cabling • Experience pulling, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting cabling infrastructure • Understanding of single-mode and multimode fiber • Experience with rack & stack deployments and hardware installations • Ability to troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, and physical layer network issues • Experience reading network diagrams, rack elevations, cable schedules, and technical documentation • Experience working in live production environments • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Skills & Experience • Fiber splicing or fusion splicing experience • OTDR testing, light meters, and fiber certification tools • Experience troubleshooting switches, routers, and network equipment • Experience consoling into network devices • Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or similar networking environments • Previous experience in medium to large-scale data centers • Leadership experience for Lead Technician openings What Will Get Someone Hired? The team is looking for technicians who can back up what is on their resume with real-world examples and technical depth. The strongest candidates typically have a combination of: • Fiber optic installation, testing, and troubleshooting • Single-mode and multimode fiber experience • Fiber splicing and fusion splicing • OTDR testing and fiber certification • Copper cabling and structured cabling • Rack & stack deployments • Hardware installation (switches, routers, servers, cabinets) • Troubleshooting connectivity and infrastructure issues • Experience working in live production environments • Medium to large-scale data center experience • Reading network diagrams, rack elevations, and cable schedules A major plus is candidates who have: • Consoled into switches or routers • Used PuTTY or SecureCRT • Worked with Cisco, Juniper, or Aruba equipment • Reviewed switch logs, interfaces, VLANs, and configurations • Supported active production environments where uptime is critical For Tech I candidates, attitude matters.
