About the Role We are seeking a French-speaking Electrical Field Service Engineer / Technologist to support the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical power systems across Canada. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on field work, solving complex technical issues, and working on critical power infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Perform commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and testing of low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment. Support power transformers, switchgear, protective relays, motor control systems, and electrical distribution equipment. Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and control system issues using advanced testing equipment and root-cause analysis techniques. Install, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems. Configure, test, and troubleshoot protective relays and electrical protection schemes. Support PLC-based automation systems and industrial controls when required. Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Develop testing procedures, commissioning plans, service reports, and project documentation. Collaborate with engineering, operations, project teams, and customers to ensure successful project execution. Provide technical recommendations that improve equipment reliability, safety, and operational performance. Travel to customer sites throughout Canada to support service and project activities. Must-Have Qualifications Fluent in both French and English. Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. 4+ years of hands-on experience with electrical power systems. Experience commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, and testing electrical equipment in industrial, utility, infrastructure, or power generation environments. Strong experience with power transformers, including commissioning, testing, diagnostics, maintenance, and field troubleshooting. Experience working on high-voltage systems up to 185kV and/or transformers exceeding 50 MVA. Experience with switchgear, power distribution equipment, and protective relays. Experience supporting and troubleshooting VFDs and motor control systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line drawings. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills. Excellent customer-facing communication skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout Canada. Preferred Qualifications Transformer testing experience including: Megger (Insulation Resistance) Turns Ratio Testing (TTR) Winding Resistance Testing Power Factor Testing Oil Analysis PLC programming and troubleshooting experience. Industrial automation and controls experience. Utility, substation, transmission & distribution, renewable energy, or power generation experience. Previous commissioning/startup experience. Project management or project coordination experience
