Call for Nominations: AWSS Patricia Herlihy Graduate Research Prize 2026 The Association for Women in Slavic Studies (AWSS) Patricia Herlihy Graduate Research Prize is awarded annually to support promising graduate-level research in any field of Slavic, East European, or Central Asian studies conducted by a woman, or for research in Women’s or Gender Studies related to Slavic/East European/Central Asian studies conducted by a scholar of any gender. Graduate students at any stage of master’s or doctoral research are eligible; only current graduate students may apply. The grant may be used to support expenses related to the completion of a thesis or dissertation, including travel, services, and/or research materials. The award carries a cash prize of $ 1000. Nominations and self-nominations are welcome. A Completed Application Consists Of: a 2–3 page proposal explaining the project, how the funds will be used, and why this funding is necessary for continued progress on the project; a CV; a detailed budget and timeline; and two letters of recommendation. Please submit application materials in MS Word or PDF format. Letters of recommendation should be sent directly by the referees. Award recipients are expected to submit a brief report on the use of funds to the Committee Chair by August of the year following receipt of the award. Recipients must be members of AWSS; if an awardee is not a current member, they will be required to join AWSS as a condition of the award.
