Job Description And Responsibilities Interpro Pipe & Steel is looking for an Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team in Calgary and is required to support Alberta operations. As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will manage or help lead various capital and non-capital investment and improvement projects, as well as contribute to the technical competence and production requirements of the manufacturing facilities. This position reports to the Director CapEx. Consult with engineers, customers and colleagues to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products Attend or lead meetings on site or offsite; prepare complete design and technical equipment specification documents Manage small or medium projects and provide the project stakeholders and sponsors with finished projects in a safe and timely manner Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements Supervise the manufacturing and installation of equipment and corrects flaws or malfunctions Assemble bid, approval and construction issue drawing packages Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications as well as compliance with operational and safety standards Develop detailed electrical drawings and update single line diagrams as needed Participate in facility evaluations and present technical reports Mentor technicians and local facility personnel on electrical system design and maintenance Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for commercial and industrial purposes Test equipment and isolate defects in a manufacturing facility Actively perpetuate and embody Interpro Pipe & Steel and engineering department culture and values Requirements Must have Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university Must have P. Eng. designation with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or other Canadian associations in a good standing 12-15 years of experience required, preference given to candidates with heavy industrial or manufacturing facility experience Electronics troubleshooting and testing knowledge Proficiency in the use of computer aided design (CAD) drafting (AutoDesk products, AutoCAD, E-plan, an asset) Ability to operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks Experience with electrical equipment selection and specification, electrical design details and auxiliary systems used in an industrial manufacturing environment Familiar with alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) motor and drive systems Knowledge base in low, medium, and high voltage power distribution calculation and design Well-developed interpersonal skills: active listener, respects diversity of opinions with an open, clear and succinct communication style Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks and meeting required deadlines High degree of professionalism, experience working in cross-functional teams that include all levels of the organization Solid understanding of and competency in engineering calculations and principles and ability to create accurate and clear design notes Ability to interpret complex multi-disciplinary drawings and complex plan and profile drawings Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, experience in project management an asset Programming Logic Controller (PLC) programming capabilities, an asset Our total compensation package includes amazing benefits!
