As an Accountant - Fixed Assets, you will play a key role in supporting Irving Oil's financial reporting and capital asset accounting processes. Working closely with finance and business stakeholders, you will ensure the accurate recording, capitalization, reconciliation, and reporting of fixed assets while contributing to the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles. Your goal will be to maintain financial integrity, support compliance with accounting standards, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment. What We Offer: Work Environment – Work in our beautiful home office building with access to a fitness facility, onsite nurse, and a café Competitive Compensation – Including an annual bonus plan, pension plan, and parking allowance Flexible Benefits Plan – In effect from day one and offers three levels of coverage to select from to meet your unique, personal needs Paid Vacation – Plus an annual option to purchase additional vacation, too Wellness Support – With an annual wellness allowance, paid personal care days and a 24/7 Employee & Family Assistance Program Opportunity to give back to some amazing causes in our community – Choose when and where to make an impact with a paid volunteer day, company volunteer opportunities, and a donation matching program Your Responsibilities: Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including the preparation of complex journal entries Review capital project packages and ensure the accurate capitalization of fixed assets Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations and support internal control activities Prepare quarter-end financial statements and supporting disclosures Review, analyze, and investigate financial results to identify variances and trends Apply accounting standards and internal policies, identifying and resolving exceptions when required Support internal and external audit requests by providing accurate and timely information Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness Contribute to special projects and other finance initiatives as required Your Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization Ability to adapt communication styles to suit a variety of stakeholders, including senior leaders Your Experience: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; a university degree and/or CPA designation is considered an asset Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, finance, fixed assets, capital project accounting, or a related field Strong knowledge of financial systems, accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements The expected annual salary range for this position is $66,267 - $87,804.
