JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Senior IT Specialist is responsible for developing, updating and implementing plans for new and existing technologies, systems and applications. The Senior Specialist is an integral part of the ITK team, able to translate corporate needs into action for systems maintenance and growth, refine and implement corporate IT policies, oversee annual and project budgets and make recommendations to senior leadership to advance ITK goals. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Drive the operations, management, administration, maintenance and support of the messaging and collaboration environment including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. Provide leadership and guidance in network design, systems management and technical support services for information technology and audio-visual systems Lead the planning, design, installation, maintenance and evaluation of systems, network and data communications systems, AV systems and software Provide technical advice, training, guidance and direction to all ITK employees Coordinate the implementation of software and systems and train users Develop a positive user experience and work with management to determine and deliver on service objectives. Contribute to and review solution design to ensure innovation, that organizational requirements are met, and that proposed solutions match ITK’s goals Under the supervision of the Director and Manager, manage vendor relationships, negotiations on scope, effort, sizing and cost of new and continuing initiatives. Research emerging technologies, services, protocols, and standards to support procurement and development based on best practices and within budget. Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, databases, and during data transfer, perform network and security audits. Identify and isolate software, hardware and networking problems and failures and coordinate appropriate action Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance and availability issues as they arise. Escalate incidents with vendors and suppliers as necessary. Liaise with vendors about technical issues to resolve system failures Collaborate to ensure successful cross-functionally of systems with partners in Inuit regions. QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge of AV systems, and network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows 10, Microsoft Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 and cloud systems usually obtained through completion of a diploma/degree in computer science or information technology or equivalent combination of education and experience Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Office 365, and collaboration tools such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams Demonstrated planning, organizational and project management skills Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement Highly developed verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff Tact, diplomacy and client-service orientation Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN administration and associated security measures Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience, as well as disaster recovery/business continuity experience Good understanding of ITK’s goals and objectives, internet infrastructure in Inuit Nunangat and data privacy practices and laws Strong cross-disciplinary communications skills, experience delivering presentations to senior management EXPERIENCE 3-5 years working in IT in a multi-disciplined IT support team 2 years managing vendors EDUCATION Degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering or a related discipline or; any combination of education and expertise providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance BENEFITS Conditional to ITK’s Human Resources Policies, you may be eligible for: 100% employer-paid group insurance upon hire Employer RRSP contributions Annual training allowance Excellent health and wellness allowance Relocation allowance Vacation – starting at 3 weeks/year Paid Christmas break (usually between Xmas and New Year) Candidates with exceptional skills or experience may be considered for compensation above the posted range. *Applicants who are registered under an Inuit Land Claims Agreement will be given priority hiring.
