Job summary
The Opportunity We’re on the hunt for a Conveyancer / Legal Assistant to join our growing Notary practice. The right person is detail-obsessed, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be responsible for managing residential real estate files from start to finish, while providing a high level of service to clients, realtors, lenders and other professionals. Ideally, you bring 2+ years of BC conveyancing experience. However, if you’re earlier in your career and have the drive to learn, we’re willing to train the right candidate. If you take initiative, stay organized, communicate clearly, and can juggle multiple files and deadlines without dropping the ball on client service, you’ll fit right in. Key Responsibilities Manage residential / commercial purchase, sale, refinance and transfer files from opening through completion Conduct and review due diligence searches Review contracts, title searches, tax information, strata documents and other relevant documents Prepare sale, purchase, mortgage, refinance and transfer documentation Prepare statements of adjustments, statements of account and other closing documents Correspond with clients, lenders, mortgage brokers, realtors, developers, lawyers and other professionals Coordinate signing appointments and ensure all required documents are properly executed Prepare and electronically register documents with the Land Title Office Coordinate mortgage funding, payouts and discharges Report to clients and lenders following completion Follow up on outstanding documents and conditions Maintain accurate and organized electronic files Provide exceptional client service throughout the transaction Assist with other notarial and administrative matters as required Core Competencies & Qualifications 2+ years of BC residential conveyancing experience preferred Experience with purchases, sales, mortgages and refinances Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office procedures Experience with LTSA / Land Title Office, BC Online, e-filing and Goveyance is an asset Experience with developer/presale transactions is an asset Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program is an asset Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong client-service skills Ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines Ability to work independently and take initiative Professional, positive and team-oriented attitude Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is required Our Values We believe in providing clients with legal services that are professional, efficient, accurate and personable. Requirements
Preferably 2+ years of BC conveyancing experience and fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin. A legal assistant or paralegal program completion is an asset, along with proficiency in LTSA and BC Online tools.
